Nine matches open Matchday Three, with Liverpool targeting a third straight win against Villarreal

Paris Saint-Germain’s meeting with Barcelona headlines Tuesday’s Champions League fixtures, while Manchester City look to recover from defeat and Liverpool aim to maintain their perfect start to the league phase.

Barcelona travel to Paris after beating Feyenoord 5–1 and Galatasaray 4–1 in their opening two matches. PSG, however, present a demanding test. The French side followed a 6–1 victory over Slovan Bratislava with an impressive 4–2 win away at Manchester City.

Both teams have scored freely so far, adding to the anticipation ahead of a contest in which each will be chasing a third successive European victory.

City host AEK Athens hoping to put their defeat to PSG behind them. After that setback interrupted their European campaign, the meeting offers the English side an opportunity to return to winning ways.

Liverpool, meanwhile, welcome Villarreal after victories over Atlético Madrid and LASK. Having edged Atlético 2–1 before winning 6–3 in Austria, they now face a Spanish side arriving on the back of a 3–1 victory over Napoli.

Villarreal’s result adds interest to a fixture that will test Liverpool’s ambitions of extending their winning start.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund visit Azerbaijani side Sabah seeking a response to their defeat against Bodø/Glimt. Fenerbahçe host Slavia Prague as they attempt to recover from a heavy loss to Aston Villa in the previous round.

Stuttgart take on Atlético Madrid, while Napoli welcome Bodø/Glimt. Roma’s meeting with Slovan Bratislava and Porto’s clash with PSV Eindhoven complete the evening’s programme.
