Como and LASK punished Manchester United and Sporting on a night of 34 Champions League goals, while Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Real Betis extended their winning starts.

Manchester United were still within a goal of Como at half-time. Twelve minutes after the restart, they were three down. Nico Paz had scored, created another and scored again, putting Como on their way to a 4–1 victory on Wednesday, 21 October. Elsewhere, Arsenal recovered a point at Bayern Munich, LASK overturned an early deficit at Sporting CP and Inter found a winner after losing a player. Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Real Betis all won again to preserve their perfect starts.

Paz takes the game away from United

Paz’s second-minute opener had left United chasing almost from kick-off. The damage became much harder to repair after the interval, when the Argentine supplied Tasos Douvikas for Como’s second in the 49th minute.

His next contribution was more direct. Having won the ball on the wing, Paz advanced and finished into the far corner in the 57th.

Jacobo Ramón headed in Kaiki’s cross with fourteen minutes left. Joshua Zirkzee’s late reply completed the scoring as Como moved to six points from three matches.

Rice keeps Arsenal unbeaten

Arsenal left Munich with a 2–2 draw after both sides had held the lead. Bukayo Saka went off after ten minutes, yet his replacement Eberechi Eze scored the opening goal, finishing Martin Ødegaard’s pass in the 25th.

Harry Kane supplied the answer, sending Alphonso Davies through to equalise ten minutes later. After the break, Manuel Neuer kept out Bruno Guimarães and David Raya denied Dayot Upamecano.

Kane put Bayern ahead in the 61st minute, converting the penalty awarded for Jurriën Timber’s handball. Declan Rice levelled in the 82nd, exchanging passes before driving his shot into the far corner.

Neuer denied Timber at the end, leaving Arsenal unbeaten on seven points and Bayern on five.

Real Madrid’s 4–1 victory over Leipzig depended on more than the four names on their scoresheet. Before Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 44th minute, Thibaut Courtois had denied Rómulo and Christopher Nkunku, keeping Leipzig from turning their chances into a lead.

Silva finished a rebound, and Arda Güler made it 2–0 in the 52nd after Kylian Mbappé met Jude Bellingham’s cross.

Mbappé struck from the edge of the area in the 83rd minute. Tidiam Gomis replied for Leipzig before Yan Diomande’s volley completed the scoring in the 87th. Madrid finished with a third win.

Alysson’s name was absent from Villa’s scorers, but his influence ran through their 3–1 victory over Viking. After Ross Barkley headed in Ibrahim Mbaye’s corner, the winger won the penalty that Emiliano Buendía converted in the 37th minute.

Another Alysson run shortly after the hour ended with Henrik Heggheim turning the ball into his own net. Peter Christiansen’s 84th-minute volley reduced the deficit, leaving Villa with nine points from nine.

Betis joined them on nine points with a 1–0 win over Feyenoord. Isco settled the game with a 59th-minute penalty after Jeremiah St. Juste’s handball. Feyenoord’s clearest chance of the match had ended with Gjivai Zechiël shooting over from close range.

Lille’s 4–2 home defeat turned on a lead that lasted only five minutes. Soriba Diaoune had cancelled out Yunus Akgün’s early goal before scoring again in the 39th minute. Aleksei Batrakov’s header brought Galatasaray level in the 44th.

The visitors carried the recovery into the second half. Nabil Bentaleb’s own goal put them ahead, and Victor Osimhen added the fourth shortly after the hour.

Diaoune’s two goals had given Lille a route to their first points. Instead, they suffered a third defeat, while Galatasaray opened their account with an away win.

At San Siro, Alessandro Bastoni’s second booking in the 68th minute left Inter a player short with the score still 0–0. Nine minutes later, they had the goal that decided the match.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan sent Carlos Augusto through on a counterattack, and his finish gave Inter a 1–0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Josep Martínez protected that advantage with late saves, including one from Mykola Matviienko’s header. Inter’s first points arrived despite the dismissal, with the goalkeeper essential to making the lead last.

Lens had a different reason to regret their evening in Belgium. Franjo Ivanović hit the post and Yann Sommer repeatedly kept them out, before Hans Vanaken scored for Club Brugge in first-half added time.

Joaquin Seys doubled the lead in the 50th minute, and Carlos Forbs added the third. The 3–0 result left Lens with nothing from the chances they had created while the game was level.

The league phase resumes on 3 and 4 November. United next host Roma, while Como travel to Lens and Arsenal visit Slavia Prague.
